This book is based on a young boy named David who is abused by his mother, abandoned by his father and disowned by his whole family. The best part of the book in my opinion is when David is able to escape the abuse because he could start over and find someone who can care for him. The book was interesting but not easy to relate to unless you had a rough time as a child. I'd recommend this book even because it shows that childhood isn't always a fairy tale but people can overcome the hard times.
