Writing My Wrongs

by Shaka Senghor

Review by D'Angelo B.

This book takes place in a prison in Detroit.  The main character is a 19-year-old boy who goes to prison for murder.  He was denied parole 2 times, then they let him out after doing 19 years when he was 38 years old.  Out of the 19 years, he was on solitary confinement for 7 of those years.  I enjoyed reading this book because he was a successful man in prison, and he became a positive peer when he was released.  I also liked the part where he apologized to the victim’s mother, and she forgives him.  This book is great because it shows that you can turn your life around no matter what you go through.
